Travel Awards

Trainee Travel Award - New This Year!

This year, in addition to the Berend Houwen Travel Awards, ISLH will be offering Trainee Travel Awards. Each award winner will receive up to 2500 USD in travel scholarship reimbursement to attend the ISLH 2014 meeting. Award winners will be selected on merit by a program sub-committee headed by the Abstract and Poster Chairs.

Citizens of any country may apply for this award as long as they are currently enrolled in a training program. Abstract work must not be previously published, and a letter of support from the applicant's supervisor should be emailed to info@islh.org

If you wish to apply for the Trainee Travel Award, simply check the appropriate box when submitting your abstract. If you wish to apply with an abstract you have already submitted, log into you ISLH account, select "Abstract Submission"and edit your current abstract.

Berend Houwen Travel Award

ISLH is delighted to announce that in 2014 we will be able to make available a limited number of travel grants up to the value of 2500 USD to abstract submitters from developing countries (list can be found below). This has been made possible due to the generosity of the Wallace H Coulter Foundation. These travel awards will be known as the Berend Houwen Travel Awards in honor of the founder of ISLH.

NEW THIS YEAR: All abstract submissions applying for the Berend Houwen Travel Award will be reviewed in December 2013 and will have an early submission deadline of November 30, 2013. This expedited timeline is designed to provide earlier award notifications and additional time for awardees to apply for travel visas.

The abstract and program chairs will select the Berend Houwen Travel Award grantees based on the merit of each submitted abstract. If you are successful in winning one of these travel awards for 2014 we require the following commitments.

Award Commitments/Requirements

(1) That you submit receipts for your travel. You will be reimbursed your costs + registration fees.

(2) That upon returning to your country you impart the knowledge learnt at ISLH 2014 to other laboratory hematology personnel in your laboratory and colleagues in neighboring laboratories

(3) That you write brief reports to ISLH at six months and 12 months post the award reporting on progress

We look forward to receiving your application for the 2014 Berend Houwen Travel Awards.
